Northeast Bat Working Group 2023

Annual Meeting

January 18-20

Burlington, Vermont

The Northeast Bat Working Group (NEBWG) is comprised of agencies, organizations, industry, and individuals interested in bat research, management, and conservation located in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Virginia area regions. A winter meeting is held each year at various locations where participants present results from previous studies, provide updates on long term projects, and plan future multi-state collaborative endeavors. State representatives provide summaries of their state's bat related activities, while federal representatives provide updates on national scale policy and protection efforts.

Currently, the 2023 NEBWG Conference will be an IN-PERSON ONLY conference. The conference will start at noon on Wednesday January 18th and conclude around noon on Friday January 20th. Details on the agenda will be forthcoming.

The 2023 Northeast Bat Working Group Meeting will be held at the Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain Hotel located at 60 Battery Street in Burlington, Vermont. The hotel is a full-service downtown hotel located blocks away from the idyllic waters of Lake Champlain. It is also within walking distance to great restaurants and the Church Street Marketplace.

Meeting room rates are currently $111 for both King Bed and double Queen Bed rooms. The hotel is waiving the $25 Daily Mandatory Charge, but guests may elect to add this fee to their reservation to receive a $25 food credit, premium guest WiFi, and use of the hotel's Fitness facility. To book your reservation at the hotel, go to the  Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain Hotel reservation site. You can also call 802-658-6500 (or 1-800- HILTONS) and mention NEBWG for the group rate. This discount rate will be valid through December 27, 2022.

Rooms may be cancelled up to 72 hours before date of reservation without penalty. There is a $16 daily parking fee (with in/out priveges) but no charge for hotel WiFi at the conference.

THIS IS A NON-SMOKING HOTEL - GUESTS WILL BE CHARGED A $300 SERVICE FEE FOR ANY SMOKING-RELATED CLEANING.

The nearest airport is the Burlington International Airport (BTV) in South Burlington, located only four miles from the hotel. The Burlington Hilton does not offer an airport shuttle.

Are you a student that would benefit from a NEBWG Student Travel Grant?  Contact Jonathan Townsend for application details and see the information button below. NEBWG has funds available to help selected students attend this year's meeting! We anticipate funding up to a maximum of $500 per student for up to three students. COVID PROTOCOL

NEBWG will monitor federal, state, and local guidelines for COVID protocols. Vermont currently does not have mandatory guidelines, but wearing a mask and/or practicing social distancing is an individual option. The hotel will arrange seating to maximize physical distancing for all participants, although we will not know the exact spacing until we have the final registration numbers. The Burlington Hilton will provide thorough cleaning of all public areas, including Lysol stations with sanitizing wipes in the public areas. As COVID protocols change in the city of Burlington, these guidelines may be modified.

We respect the right of all persons to wear masks and expect unvaccinated persons to wear masks within the conference spaces. Persons with COVID-like symptoms should not attend and will be reimbursed for registration and lodging costs.

Please continue to check this website to obtain updated COVID protocols for this conference.
